STRIKERS Reece Styche and Michael Gash have been told that they will get their chance to make their mark for in-form Kidderminster Harriers.

The pair have been forced to settle for places on the bench for the first three games of the Vanarama Conference season with Nathan Blissett and Craig Reid getting the nod from manager Gary Whild.

Confident Harriers have taken seven points from those matches and head to Macclesfield Town tomorrow (3pm) aiming to build on their best start to a campaign since 1990-91.

An opening day 0-0 draw at Lincoln City was followed up with respective 3-0 and 1-0 home wins against Alfreton Town and Dartford, ensuring Harriers are also yet to concede a goal.

Styche arrived from Forest Green Rovers in the summer and Gash was the club’s leading scorer with 14 goals last term.

Whild, however, reckons competition for places is vital and insists they will have an important part to play.

The Harriers boss, whose side also entertain Chester on Bank Holiday Monday, also believes the pedigree of Gash and Styche has brought the best out of their team-mates.

He said: “I think Nathan Blissett and Craig Reid have been playing so well because they’ve got Michael Gash and Reece Styche breathing down their necks.

“The attitude of all the players has been excellent. Michael has probably had more time than Reece on the pitch but they have done well when they’ve come on.

“If you look at the massive amount of effort the players have put into each match, it’s hard to imagine that could be kept up for two games in a short space of time, so we may have to change things around.”

Macclesfield have made an equally impressive start to the 2014-15 season, beating Braintree 1-0 and Telford 3-2 before drawing 0-0 at Woking last time out.
