A YOUTHFUL Worcester City side head to Malvern Town’s HD Anywhere Stadium as Carl Heeley looks to blood his next generation of first-teamers (8pm).

Heeley will be holding back the majority of his senior players in favour of offering the club’s young guns the chance to catch the eye.

City boss Heeley said: “Tonight’s team will predominantly be made up of our academy and under 21s players, with a couple of others added into the mix.

“I might include a couple of trialists, but I’ll keep the likes of Nick Wright and Tristan Dunkley back for the senior game at Barwell on Saturday.

“We won’t be taking the senior team to Malvern, but I just want to expose some of the youngsters to senior football, which is what I have tried to do during pre-season.

“They have acquitted themselves well and we had good results against Coventry Sphinx and Westfields.

“That kind of experience is the best way for them to develop and I will probably add three or four of them to the first team squad.

“Potentially, a few of them have the ability to be pushing for a place in the first team, but you have to be careful not to throw them in too soon.”

Elsewhere, Kidderminster Harriers continue their preparations for the new season with a friendly match against League Two side Shrewsbury Town tonight (7.45pm) Town were relegated from League One last term and former Fleetwood chief Mickey Mellon is tasked with pushing on this time around.

It will also be an early return to Aggborough for defender Mickey Demetriou, who only left Harriers for Shrewsbury a few weeks ago.

For this game, admission is pay on the gate at £8 for adults and £4 for concessions.

Meanwhile, Evesham United warm up with a pre-season friendly against Midland League Division One local rivals Littleton at the Spiers and Hartwell Jubilee Stadium tonight (7.45pm).
