WORCESTER City have rediscovered their belief to win games, says manager Carl Heeley.

City are out of the Skrill North relegation zone following three victories in a row, the latest being Tuesday’s 2-1 success at play-off hopefuls Altrincham with goals from Aaron Brown and Daniel Nti.

“It was thoroughly deserved,” Heeley said. “There is belief and confidence is flowing throughout the camp at the moment and we’re on a lovely little run.

“If you’d looked at this fixture a month or so ago, I think people wouldn’t have given us much hope.

“But there’s a renewed optimism and we went there believing we could win the game and that’s what we did.

“Conditions were very difficult, the pitch cut up, it was blustery weather with driving rain and we adapted brilliantly to it. I thought we scrapped and did all the ugly things but we looked a major threat as well.

“If it hadn’t have been for their keeper in the first-half it would have been more convincing because he pulled off two unbelievable saves.”

Heeley puts his side’s rejuvenation down to the arrival of new signings Brown, Kristian Ramsey-Dickson and Kidderminster Harriers loanee Jamie Grimes.

“They’re fresh faces, infectious personalities and have brought a different dimension to the team,” the Worcester boss said. “All three of them have done incredibly well and it’s lifted the rest of the squad.

You can see there’s a renewed belief.”

Brown headed City ahead after 56 minutes and Nti doubled the advantage 11 minutes from time, before Altrincham substitute James Lawrie pulled one back.

Heeley said: “What can you say about the second goal? It was a brilliant strike.”
