A van driver who died after a crash on the A449 has been named as Robert Coulson.

Mr Coulson, known to his family as Bob, was 71 and from Coppice Lane, Quarry Bank.

He was driving his white Citroen Nemo panel van towards Kidderminster when he was involved in a crash with a grey DAF tanker heading the other way.

Mr Coulson's van was wedged under the front section of the tanker and he had to be freed by the fire service.

He was airlifted to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, but died shortly after arrival.

The crash happened near the Mare and Colt pub on the A449 Worcester Road at about 11.45am on Tuesday, February 25.

Mr Coulson worked as a part time delivery driver at J S Optical Ltd on the Hoo Farm industrial estate, near where the collision happened.

His funeral will take place at Stourbridge Crematorium at 12.20pm on Thursday, March 13, and anyone who knew him is welcome to attend.

Donations in his memory will be given to the Air Ambulance, in appreciation of the efforts made to save his life.
